Minister Klich visits military units of 12th Division (Mech.)

On 25th June Minister of National Defence Bogdan Klich and Land Forces CinC Gen. Waldemar Skrzypczak visited military units of 12th Szczecin (Stettin) Division (Mech) in Słupsk, Trzebiatowo and Złocieniec.
The goals of the visit were the assessment of the process of professionalization of the military and review of military infrastructure and lodging conditions in the units.
During the press conference that followed, the minister brought up the issue of the future of major military airfields of, among others: Mirosławiec, Swidwin, Łask, Krzesiny. ‘These are strategic airfields, not only from Polish, but also whole NATO security perspective, hence the Alliance makes investments in them. Poznan-Krzesiny airbase has already been adapted to NATO standards and the works here are almost complete’, Klich assessed.
Asked about the future of airfield in Redzikowo, minister of defence said that as negotiations on installing in Poland elements of missile defence system are being held, the decisions concerning the Słupsk-Redzikowo airfield will be known after their completion.
The present also informed the journalists about restructuring of the units, i.e. strengthening 7th Brigade of Coast Defence with troops from a disbanded 36 Brigade (Mech.) and a Territorial Battalion of Lebork.
