First Hercules arrives in Poland

The first C-130E Hercules aircraft of five scheduled landed on 24 March at the Powidz airbase (Wielkopolska province). Poland has received the aircraft from the USA within Foreign Military Financing program
The delivery ceremony attended among others, v-ce minister in MoND Stanislaw Komorowski, Commander of the Air Force LtGen Andrzej Blasik as well as air force officials and local government authorities.
The aircraft is to be operated by Polish Air Force for transporting troops and equipment, evacuation, and carrying humanitarian aid during natural disasters.
Hercules aircraft will improve Poland's transport capabilities, both in the country and abroad, particularly in terms of supplying Polish deployment in Afghanistan.
The delivery of 5 modernized and upgraded aircraft is to be completed by the summer of 2010.
It is scheduled to be operated 600 flight hours a year within the period of 20 years.
